Hi again, My second week in the Bay Area was a busy one and this week will be just as busy. I’m getting used to the area and it’s getting easier to find my way around (although I have gotten lost a few times). I still can’t believe I’m here doing what I love and having so many new experiences along the way. It’s been going really well. Last week I met up with a few awesome photographers, Scott Peterson was the first, he invited me down to his studio to chat about photography things and talk about how he works. Next was Joyce Oudkerk Pool. I got to go down to her studio as well and she had tons of great advice for me and ways to help me get started on this journey. I will be working with Joyce this week on some shoots and can’t wait to learn more and more about the food photography world. Lastly I met up with Cody Gantz who is a Hallmark alumni from 2009. It was really great to talk with cody since he’s working as an assistant to photographers in the area. He also had lots of great advice and information for me which I’m very thankful for. He also showed me around the lovely Mission and Castro districts in San Francisco and bought me food at Tartine Bakery (so good!). Cody is a great guy and super nice! I’m so grateful that these talented people are so open to meeting up with me and showing me what they do.

Over the weekend I went up to the Lake Tahoe area with my Aunt and Uncle. They have a cabin up there and go to it every weekend in the winter. They needed to go up to build their snow tunnel for the walkway to the cabin (The snow gets up to 5 feet or more up there, something I’ve never experienced). So we drove up and there was about 6 inches of snow, which was exciting. All the cabins up there are so unique and cozy! It was really fun. We did a few short hikes and saw some amazing views and sunsets. It’s such a beautiful area. The city is a lot of fun but there’s nothing like being surrounded by trees and breathing the mountain air. I’m so happy I grew up in the woods back in New England and have been going camping since I was a kid. It’s a part of me and it’s something I truly appreciate.
